The season is getting underway and we are excited about our prospects for this season. We are 1 and 1 in the preseason. Our practice schedule is now going to be Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Game day information
The district has informed us that our games will most likely be as follows: U12 = Thurs night and Sat 2:30. I need to give feedback at our coaches meeting on August 18, 2009. Therefore, if you have any feedback let me know as soon as possible.
Referee fees - paint $$$$$$$$$$
I am just mentally preparing you parents to shell out a bit more money.
1. The district just sent us this information: referee fees will most likely be increasing each game. If they do then I will let you parents know so we can share the pain.
2. We were very lucky in obtaining our field from Marriott-Slaterville. As part of our usage agreement; FC Pride is in charge of painting the lines and maintaining the goal posts. Mike Garmire (the U-10 coach) has been great about painting the lines but this becomes an expensive proposition. We don't want to assess a formal fee per player so we are hoping we can get some voluntary contributions to our paint fund. Let us know if you can help out (the cost is approximately $40.00 every two weeks to maintain the lines for both fields).

First game - August 29, 2009
The district has told us our first game is most likely Saturday, August 29, 2009. We don't have time or schedule just the amorphous date. Hopefully, we'll know more shortly. Also, they've indicated no games on Labor Day weekend.
Tournament update - still nothing!
Sorry but nobody from the Striker's Cup Tournament has provided us with a schedule yet. I will update you ASAP and send individual e-mails to the parents.

Communication (parents work with your kids)

2. Man on = time to pass.
3. Switch = 2 players are switching the positions they’re playing.
4. Switch back = the players that have switched are resuming their positions.
5. Recover = you lost the ball or position and need to explode back.
6. Open = look at me; I’m open.
7. Send = I’m ready to run on an attack play; if you kick it far I will get it.
8. Wall = set up a wall to defend goal.
9. Pull = pull an offside trap (called by sweeper only).
10. Clear = get rid of the ball either up field or out-of-bounds.
11. Shift/sag = shift to a position between the ball and goal (sag/fall back to set up layers of defense).
12. Attack or Contain = apply pressure and stop but don’t overcommit until they make a mistake.

The University of Utah Women's Soccer team and Utah Youth Soccer have partnered to participate in U.S. Youth Soccer Month (A Nationwide Celebration of Soccer). On September 2nd, 2009 the University of Utah's Women's soccer team will play in-state rival Weber State beginning at 7:30p.m. at Ute Field.
Buy one ticket and the whole family gets in free coupons are available for the event! Children 12 and under are always free! (To print coupon click here)
In Celebration, Utah Youth Soccer will provide pre-game tailgating, soccer clinics, and lots of prizes. The bash will begin at 6:00p.m. just outside the Ute Soccer Field.
Festivities will include a Mini Soccer Clinic put on by UYSA Technical Director Greg Maas and his staff for all kids 4 and up, FREE Hot Dogs, and tons of giveaways for the kids! Former Utah Youth Soccer players from both Universities will be in competition in the game, and will be available for autographs after the game. So come early for family fun UYSA style! Rules from last practice!
1. Don't stop playing until the whistle blows!
2. The ball is not out-of-play, nor is a goal scored, until the ENTIRE ball crosses the touchlines!
Remember these because they will be a huge advantage when the other girls quit playing because of something else or the ball is on the line so they stop playing. We never quit because we practice hard and play harder!
