The season is getting underway and we are excited about our prospects for this season. We are 1 and 1 in the preseason. Our practice schedule is now going to be Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Game day information
The district has informed us that our games will most likely be as follows: U12 = Thurs night and Sat 2:30. I need to give feedback at our coaches meeting on August 18, 2009. Therefore, if you have any feedback let me know as soon as possible.
Referee fees - paint $$$$$$$$$$
I am just mentally preparing you parents to shell out a bit more money.
1. The district just sent us this information: referee fees will most likely be increasing each game. If they do then I will let you parents know so we can share the pain.
2. We were very lucky in obtaining our field from Marriott-Slaterville. As part of our usage agreement; FC Pride is in charge of painting the lines and maintaining the goal posts. Mike Garmire (the U-10 coach) has been great about painting the lines but this becomes an expensive proposition. We don't want to assess a formal fee per player so we are hoping we can get some voluntary contributions to our paint fund. Let us know if you can help out (the cost is approximately $40.00 every two weeks to maintain the lines for both fields).

First game - August 29, 2009
The district has told us our first game is most likely Saturday, August 29, 2009. We don't have time or schedule just the amorphous date. Hopefully, we'll know more shortly. Also, they've indicated no games on Labor Day weekend.
Tournament update - still nothing!
Sorry but nobody from the Striker's Cup Tournament has provided us with a schedule yet. I will update you ASAP and send individual e-mails to the parents.

Communication (parents work with your kids)
1. Got time = you have time to dribble and look for play.
2. Man on = time to pass.
3. Switch = 2 players are switching the positions they’re playing.
4. Switch back = the players that have switched are resuming their positions.
5. Recover = you lost the ball or position and need to explode back.
6. Open = look at me; I’m open.
7. Send = I’m ready to run on an attack play; if you kick it far I will get it.
8. Wall = set up a wall to defend goal.
9. Pull = pull an offside trap (called by sweeper only).
10. Clear = get rid of the ball either up field or out-of-bounds.
11. Shift/sag = shift to a position between the ball and goal (sag/fall back to set up layers of defense).
12. Attack or Contain = apply pressure and stop but don’t overcommit until they make a mistake.
